Hyve is a decentralized data storage with competing qualities to those of AWS S3. It also boasts a robust DA (Data Availability) solution, which exists as a cog in the greater data infrastructure engine that Hyve encompasses. One question comes up often, “Can projects that already rely on Eigen or Celestia for data availability still integrate Hyve for their broader data infrastructure?”
The answer is straightforward: absolutely. Hyve and data availability solutions are not mutually exclusive.
The longer answer, we will break down in this article. Ultimately, Hyve can be used as a chain’s DA solution and a dApps hot object storage solution, or it might be just the hot object storage solution, leaving the chain’s DA to another service as both pieces of infrastructure coexist with each other.
As we enter the age of data in blockchain, data availability has quickly become the first speed-bump. It doesn’t matter how or where you store your data if you can’t verify that it is available to access. A number of solutions materialized. EigenDA and Celestia became the most well known in the space. Hyve is just beginning it’s journey into the market. Luckily, Hyve isn’t just DA. Far from it.
Hyve is a full-spectrum data infrastructure which just so happens to include an impressive DA solution. Hyve positions itself as a ‘decentralized AWS S3’, providing hot data storage with competitive costs, latency and throughput when compared to S3. Hyve provides a flexible total solution to the cryptosphere.
Even if a chain has already deployed an alternate DA solution, Hyve can still easily be integrated with the chain or any of it’s dApps. Hyve is consensus agnostic. It relies on whichever consensus mechanism is already being used by the chain or dApp. Being flexible enough to incorporate, rather than obstruct an existing DA solution means that integrating the very first-of-its-kind decentralized AWS S3 alternative is within reach for any interested party. Beyond providing enterprise-level hot object storage, Hyve also brings 100% of the data fees going out (to a system like AWS S3) back to the ecosystem participants! In closing, it doesn’t matter where in the lifecycle your dApp or chain is, it’s not too early or too late to integrate Hyve. If you find yourself dealing with large amounts of data, especially data that requires hot-access, you are doing yourself and your clients a disservice to not be asking about what Hyve can do for you.
